Case Histories — Lime render to a refurb in Belgravia
The Requirement
- An old property had been extensively refurbed.
- There were many differential background materials present including concrete block, brick masonry, concrete & voids.
- The architect insisted on traditional lime render over the whole façade.
- A high quality render finish with Ashlar markings was imperative, without the risk of cracking.
Project Details
- High end residential Belgravia and a Grade 2 listed building.
The Solution
- Stainless Steel heavy duty metal sections were used & shaped to infill all major voids
- Treated timber & Riven Laths were attached to the stainless steel sections
- Stainless Steel EML & Riblath with Building paper addressed all new/existing joints
- A consolidation lime mortar scat coat was used to produce a render keycoat throughout
- Traditional Lime Putty, Haired & Coarse render mortar build out coats
- Ashlar markings completed the works prior to decoration
